Here are 3 simple steps to add a Google Font to your WordPress website.
Step 1: Search
Using the right font is imperative to the overall look and feel of your site. So take a little time and peruse the Google Font Library to find the right one for you.
**Warning** You can spend hours upon hours looking at fonts, so spend your time wisely. Narrow your search options by selecting search filters.
If you read our previous post, Free Google Fonts + Color Combos, you know that pairing fonts can create a stunning effect on your site that emphasizes key areas. So take the opportunity to find a couple of font combination that will impact your design.
Step 2: Click & Copy
Once you have found the perfect fonts, click on the Quick Use button here:
This will open up the “Quick Use” screen. Scroll down to #3. Copy the code and paste it into notepad.
3. Add & Use
The smartest way to add both fonts to your site is to take both URLs and combine the 2 fonts, using a | character to separate them. Like this:
Now, you will add the code to your theme’s head section. You want to place this request as early as possible in the stylesheet to ensure that the fonts are propagated correctly. Once this is done, you can start using the font in your tags!
